How to resolve typical issues with the WaveLinx Pro (Wireless) Lighting System
Devices not Communicating #
Sometimes a surge or power outage may cause the system to lose control of certain areas of lighting. If the devices are not communicating in the WaveLinx Pro (Wireless) System, unplug the WAC (Wireless Area Controller) to reboot the device, and power cycle the controlled lighting circuit breakers. This will reboot all switchpacks and wallstations, and will typically re-pair communication on all devices and the WAC. Please wait 5-10 minutes to allow all devices to pair back into the lighting system.
Unable to Control Specific Zones or Areas #
If you have lost control of a certain zone of area in your lighting system, you can check the status of the wireless relay switchpack by using the WaveLinx Mobile App. Log into the Lighting System WiFi and then launch your WaveLinx App. Go to the area or zone with the issue and view the RSP / WSP in the lighting zone. The color green means the device is paired and communicating properly, grey means the device is still part of the system but currently is not communicating, and red means the device is no longer seen in the system and is not communicating. You can try a system reset as instructed above to see if this fixes the issue. If not, locate the relay switchpack, press and release the push button (1 second press) to try and toggle the connected load ON and OFF. If the push button is working, this means the relay switchpack is functioning, put the WAC into device discovery mode in the Mobile App and then push the toggle button on the switchpack for 4-5 seconds. The onboard LED light will blink for 10 seconds to indicate the device has entered pairing mode. Repeat this step again if the LED does not blink for 10 seconds.
If the switchpack will not toggle ON and OFF from the manual toggle button, most likely the switchpack has gone bad and will need to be replaced.
If you don’t have access to the switchpack, you can put the WAC into pairing mode, and power cycle the lighting breaker that the switchpack is on, 2 times slowly waiting 4 seconds between cycles.
WaveLinx Mobile Application not Working #
If you are unable to access your Lighting Network via the Mobile App, check to make sure you are connected to the lighting WiFi network. Once connected the WiFi network, launch the App and refresh the scan to list available controllers. Click on the controller and enter the username and password you were provided at Owners Training.
If your organization has hidden the SSID of the lighting WiFi network, you will need to enter the WiFi connection manually.
As the WaveLinx Mobile Application continues to get upgraded, you may need a newer version of firmware installed on the WAC and pushed to connected devices. Please contact B&C or schedule an appointment to evaluate your lighting system.
Enable Construction Pairing Before Startup #
If you would like to be able to control your lights before B&C comes out to do startup programming, you can do construction pairing for each WAC you have installed. Press and release the pair button (1 second press) located on the side of the WaveLinx Area Controller. The WAC will remain in pairing mode for 60 minutes or by pressing the pair button again for 1 second. Power cycle all lighting relays 2 times slowly, 4 seconds between on/off, in the area that you want controlled by this WAC. Devices will begin to pair into the WAC within minutes and you will have control of the lighting switchpacks from any of the paired wallstations / sensors. Occupancy sensors will enter pairing mode when batteries are first installed, you can also push the WiFi button on the sensor to start pairing mode if the sensor is already installed. You can now test on/off functionality and dimming from any wallstations in the controlled area. Individual areas / zones will be created and programmed once we arrive for the project startup.
