Distributed Wired Lighting System #
The WaveLinx CAT Lighting System is a distributed wired lighting system for single room and connected spaces. Standard CAT5E / CAT6 cabling can be used in the T568B configuration. Connect devices with tested ethernet cables and terminations as shown on the one-line riser provided for this project. 18 AWG required for low voltage occupancy and photosensor connections. This must be completed before scheduling startup, and any alterations to the system and installation needs to be documented and provided ahead of the appointment. In standalone scenarios, it is best to start / stop your ethernet cable run on a wallstation for ease of connection and programming. All end of line devices require a termination be installed in the open ethernet port.
Communication Wiring #
Ensure that all high voltage and Class-2 low voltage wiring remains separated by a minimum distance of 1 foot and is installed per NEC code.
Dimming, 0-10v #
Verify all areas that require dimming. Dimmed zones will require 0-10v wiring to run between all fixtures back to the control module RSP or ESP. See project specific plans and wiring diagrams for more information.
Dimming, ELV-MLV #
Additional dimming modules are required when controlling ELV-MLV fixtures. A PD-216, LDCM, or LR21 dimming module will be installed between the control module and the fixture(s) to convert 0-10v dimming to line volt dimming. Wiring diagrams are included with the Controls plans.
Occupancy Sensors #
Install ceiling occupancy sensors 4-6 feet away from air supply vents. Locations of devices shown on plans are just a graphical representation. All wired sensors will need to be configured with correct timeout and sensitivity adjusted and is the responsibility of the Electrical Contractor. DO NOT leave occupancy sensors in factory default Auto mode.
Documentation / Maintenance #
Document all CAT device locations for any future maintenance, it is best practice to label field devices for what they are controlling and create an accurate as-built for future troubleshooting.
The CAT Lighting System will work out of the box as 1 controlled area with all connected devices over each Ethernet cable run. Any alterations will require a B+C Technician for programming.
